About Terrill

Terrill Thompson is a musician, web developer, technology accessibility specialist, outdoor adventurer, and seeker of truth, living in the Pacific Northwest.

Flow Theory Flavors

Flavors was my second commercial CD, released in 2009 under the name Flow Theory. It features balanced, full-bodied jazz-, blues-, and world-influenced folk rock with delicate floral notes and lingering finishes. I provide all sounds and flow — primarily voice, guitars, percussion, and sounds captured from the world around me — and mix them all together into a hot, delightfully palatable soup du jour.

Mastermind Terrill Thompson has created a crafty book of work that flows from song to song, keeping the listener involved and interested.

Everything and More

Whaddya know. I've just released a two-volume set titled Everything and More. This is my first outing under my own name, having previously recorded as Flow Theory, and before that Morality Rock. Everything and More is available for download only, partly as a cost saving measure, but primarily because I'm anti-stuff. There are already more than enough CDs in the world. I thought I'd reduce my footprint and lighten your load.

This page is the official Everything and More page. As such, it may be the only place where you'll see both the front and back covers:

An update, facelift, and new version of AAP

Gosh, it's been aeons since I updated this blog. Today I dusted, swept, and mopped it. It now has a new look, partly because I was tired of the old, but also because I wanted to be more consistent with my technology blog, and with my home page. In my previous post, I mentioned that I was participating again in FAWM 2011. I did in fact do that, and finished with 14 new tunes. Like my music blog, these tunes have been somewhat dormant over the last few months, but unlike my music blog, their dormancy was intentional. I felt a need to separate myself from them for a while. That hiatus is drawing to a close and I now have a fresh perspective with which to finish these tunes off. I'll be mixing them down and mastering them over the next few weeks, so please stay tuned. I also have a performance coming up. I'll be one of several artists performing at Dharmic Expressions: A Celebration of Zen and the Arts, October 1 at the Red Cedar Dharma Hall in Bellingham. Should be a great event. Finally, I just today released an update to Accessible Audio Player (AAP). I've quietly been working on this over the last few months, and feel pretty good about its current capabilities, both as a standalone player and a WordPress plug-in (AAPP). Check out The Official AAP Home Page for all the groovy details.

Counting down to FAWM 2011

February is international Album Writing Month, hence the acronym FAWM, as in fawm.org, one of two web communities that I know of (the other is The RPM Challenge) where songwriters and musicians assemble each February to crank out a bunch of fresh new tunes, share ideas and demos, and generally support one another and have a great time. For the past two years, I've participated in both of these communities, and I compared the two in a post on my other blog titled FAWM, RPM Challenge, and Man With Small F. In 2011, I may once again participate in both communities, but I've taken a slightly stronger liking to FAWM because it has a much more intuitive user interface, allows users to comment on specific songs, and provides motivation to assure that all songs receive some feedback (those that haven't are flagged as zongs until someone comments). That said, there are great people in both communities, and I'm looking forward to sharing my music, and soaking up theirs. It's always a fun, inspiring month of music making. I'll post an update here at some point, but if you'd the play-by-play on what I'm up to musically throughout the month, check out my home pages in either community:

Introducing Accessible Audio Player (AAP)

This post was updated September 10, 2011

Welcome to my music blog, and to the home site of Accessible Audio Player (AAP), my fully accessible cross-browser media player. I created AAP in November 2010 both as a proof of concept and a way of delivering my own music in a way that's fully accessible. AAP is an audio player that uses the HTML5 <audio> element for browsers that support it, and the Yahoo! Media Player for those that don't. It's available in a standalone version or (with an additional P) as a WordPress plugin called Accessible Audio Player Plugin (AAPP).

Since its debut, lots of folks have expressed an interest in using this player, so I've been devoting some time to improving it and have created an Official AAP Home Page where you will find the latest downloads, a list of features, and other useful information.
